Do gel nail strips require a base coat?

No, our strips are designed to stick directly to clean, natural nails. Using a base coat may actually interfere with adhesion. Just wash your hands, wipe each nail with the included alcohol prep pad to remove any oils, and make sure they’re completely dry before applying.

Will I need a top coat?

Gelly's gel stickers are made to be glossy, durable and long-lasting on their own. If your only concern is gloss, then you don't need a top coat. However... If your hands do a lot, think constant typing, frequent handwashing, or daily wear, a top coat can help reinforce the edges and provide extra protection. It’s also a must if you’re adding nail art or other embellishments, as it helps seal everything in place.

Why do I need a UV lamp?

The UV light is what transforms your gel strips from a flexible layer into a solid, durable coating. Gelly strips are made from real gel, just like the kind used in salon manicures. That gel needs to be fully cured to lock in place. Without this step, the stickers stay soft and won’t bond properly, meaning your mani won’t last. A quick cure under the lamp gives you that high-gloss, chip-resistant finish that keeps your nails looking fresh for up to 14 days.

How much cuticle oil do I need to remove my strips?

Just a few drops per nail. A precision bristle applicator, like the one on our jumbo cuticle oil pen, helps control the flow and target the edges. That way, you use only what you need, with no mess and no waste.
